Stephen Evans

Stephen Evans is retired with a career in the real estate industry. Mr. Evans served as Executive Committee Member and Trustee of Equity Residential (EQR), America’s largest apartment company, until 2010. In 1977, Mr. Evans founded and served as CEO and Chairman of Evans Withycombe Residential, a multifamily investment company focused on Arizona and California. The Company merged with Equity Residential in 1998.

He currently serves as a Director of Communities Southwest, a regional real estate investment company and as a Director of CIM, a national Real Estate Investment Trust.

His business affiliations have included the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha Land Economics Fraternity, National Multi-Housing Council and National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts.

Mr. Evans currently serves on the Board of Directors of the following non-profit organizations: Arizona Community Foundation (immediate past chairman), Arizona State University Foundation and Valley of the Sun United Way.

Mr. Evans was as an officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business and a master’s in business administration degree from Arizona State University.
